This simple smoothie bowl is similar to the Skin Boosting Smoothies I posted a while back but this is a little more substantial and makes a great breakfast. The ingredients are really nourishing and it calms my skin right down if it has got flushed or flared up overnight.
I’ve recently started brewing my own kombucha (thanks to my friend’s lovely Mum who donated me a baby SCOBY and got me started) which are brilliant source of probiotics (good bacteria). Skin and gut health have a strong connection and adding probiotics into your diet on a daily basis can benefit both. Kombucha can be a bit of an acquired taste but you can’t really taste it together with the other ingredients so sneaking it into a smoothie is definitely one of the easiest way to add it to your diet.
You can even amp up the skin benefits with toppings for this bowl – goji berries, chopped fruit, dried coconut, chia or flaxseeds and nut butter are all great ways to add extra nutrition as well as keeping your skin looking tip top.
